Taiwan Gives Out Over 300,000 Face Masks to the Philippines

Taiwan Government gives the Philippines government over 300,000 face masks on Wednesday, to help the country for protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Michael Hsu, the government representative of Taiwan in Manila has sent the medical masks to the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and was received by Vice-Chairman Gilberto Lauengco.

On behalf of the Philippine government, MECO thanked Taiwan for its generosity in assistance in addressing the pandemic.

According to MECO, the donations are considered as welcome reinforcement for health workers who are experiencing a shortage of medical supplies.

On April 3, the Taiwanese Compatriots Association in the Philippines has donated over 5,000 surgical face masks to the Philippines’ Department of Health and pledged to donate more in the coming weeks.

Also, the Taiwanese Association in the Philippines has supplied the Philippine General Hospital with 10,000 surgical masks.

So far, the Taiwan government has already donated a total of one million masks to several countries in Europe and Asia, including the Philippines

Meanwhile, there are 5,453 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, with 353 recoveries and 349 deaths.
