6.6 Magnitude Quake Hits Davao Occidental, February 24, 2023 (Friday)

Today, Friday, February 24, 2023, the Phivolcs detected a 6.6-magnitude earthquake near Davao Occidental.

It had a magnitude of 6.6, according to the agency.

At 04:02 a.m. today, Friday, February 24, 2023, an earthquake hit Davao Occidental,  was tectonic in nature. It was directed primarily at Sarangani Island.

The earthquake that struck Davao Occidental was centered at 03.32°North, 128.10°East – 377 km South 50° East of Sarangani Island with a depth of focus of 114 kilometers, according to Phivolcs.

According to Phivolcs’ statement, no damage from the earthquake or aftershocks is predicted. In these places, the following instrumental intensities were monitored:

    • Maitum, Malapatan, Sarangani
    • Koronadal City
    • General Santos City
    • South Cotabato
  • Intensity II
    • Glan, Kiamba, Sarangani
    • Tupi, South Cotabato
