The Department of Foreign Affairs reported as of Saturday that there are already 19,466 overseas Filipino workers who have already been repatriated in the country since the start of the enhanced community quarantine.
According to DFA Undersecretary Brigido at the Dulay Laging Handa public briefing, out of 19,466 number of repatriates, 15,130 are seafarers from 75 cruise ships. However, 4,336 were land-based OFWs.
Dulay said, “Marami pang parating in the next few days. Uuwi pa ang libo-libo nating mga kababayan galing sa ibang bansa”.
Also, those OFW’s that are land-based will be brought to their designated quarantine facilities.
Based on the Department of Health guidelines, those OFWs that were quarantined and at the same time traveled from cruise ships that were not infected by COVID-19 have already considered as having undertaken 14-day quarantine.
After that finish the quarantine period of 14 days, they will be given a certificate of completion that they have undergone quarantine, before they could go back to their provinces.
The Sub-Task Group (STG) for the Repatriation of OFWs is already coordinating with the different local government units that have different quarantine guidelines for returning OFWs, Dulay said.
