On March 9, 2020, President of the Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared he class suspension in Metro Manila from March 10-14, 2020.

The Philippines now is under the state of public health emergency after the cases of Ncov in the country has risen to 24 people.

Tuesday (March 10, 2020), Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the country lawmaker wants to postpone the graduation rites, prom, and other school activities. Gatchalian needs to propose this law due to the increasing cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines.

The graduation ceremonies from kindergarten up to college level and other school activities that involve a huge number of students to be suspended for at least two weeks.

According to Gatchalian, “Ito ay dapat suspendihin na kaagad para ‘yung mga OFWs natin na babalik pa, hindi pa bumalik muna… Yung pag-travel nila puwedeng mahawaan sila nung katabi nila sa eroplano at ‘yung sakit ay madadala dito sa atin,” “Papasa pa rin ‘yung bata. Puwede pa rin siya pumasok next school year pero ‘yung ceremonies… postponed muna to a later date,”
