Philippines send some samples of virgin coconut oil to Singapore for them to study if it can be used as a cure for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Based on the report of GMA News, the Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said on Monday that the possibility of using virgin coconut oil (VCO) to fight the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is being studied by experts in the Philippines. And the National University of Singapore has agreed to study the effectiveness of coconut oil tor the cure of COVID-19.

Nograles said in the press briefing in Malacanang that, “As to the efficacy of virgin coconut oil in combating COVID-19, a leading proponent—an academician in one of our top universities—is spearheading this initiative, and the National University of Singapore has accepted to test VCO against COVID-19.”

The samples are prepared to deliver this week. He added, “We are now preparing to send samples of virgin coconut oil for testing within the week.”

Also, there are a lot of scientists studied the anti-viral effects of virgin coconut oil and called for the studies of COVID-19 patients. Recently in China, the antiviral drug Favilavir has been approved to be sold on the market last week after it showed efficacy in treating patients with COVID-19.

Recently, there are more than 78, 000 have been affected by COVID-19, while the death toll was more than 2, 500 in China.
