Live Video: DOH Press Conference on Coronavirus After First Case Confirmed

The Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III recently confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the Philippines on Thursday January 30, 2020.

Duque said that the origin of the first case of the confirmed coronavirus in the country is coming from the 38-year-old Chinese patient from Wuhan City, China.

According to the DOH, the Chinese woman arrived in Manila from Hong Kong last January 21, 2020. She made a visit in several areas in the country like Cebu and Dumaguete. For the precautionary measure, DOH Epidemiology Bureau Director Ferchito Avelino said, authorities are now tasked to trace the people in contact with woman and to check the establishment she used to stay here in the country.

Meanwhile, the latest update as of January 30, 2020 about the coronavirus based on the world record revealed that there are a total of 170 died in the outbreak and 7,784 total infected patients in different countries including the 7,678 patients in China, 14 in Thailand, 10 in Hong Kong, 8 in Taiwan, 7 in Macau, 7 in Malaysia, 10 in Singapore, 11 in Japan, 7 in Australia, 5 in USA, 4 in South Korea, 5 in France, 4 in Germany, 3 in Canada, 2 in Vietnam, 1 in Cambodia, 1 in Nepal, 1 in UAE and 1 in the Philippines with 27 patients under observation.
