In commemoration of Eid’l Adha, Malacañang Palace has announced June 28, 2023, a regular national holiday in the Philippines.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has announced June 28, 2023, as a regular national holiday in the Philippines in order to acknowledge and respect the Islamic practice of Eid’l Adha.

This proclamation is in compliance with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos’ recommendations, which are based on the 1444 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

Eid’l Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is a major religious event for Muslims worldwide.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Proclamation No. 258 on June 13 to formally establish June 28, 2023 as a regular holiday throughout the country.

This proclamation recognizes the recommendations of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, an official body charged with protecting the rights and welfare of Muslim Filipinos.

The Islamic lunar calendar, known as the 1444 Hijrah calendar, is used to calculate the date of Eid’l Adha. Using this schedule, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos recommended June 28, 2023, as the declared national holiday.
