Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Deniece Cornejo’s primary attorney, has essentially resigned and no longer intends to participate in the proceedings. The lawyer added in a report attributed to ABS-CBN reporter Niko Baua that there had been a difference in the handling of the case, which was caused by certain persons.
Given this, he stated that he cannot continue to serve “in good conscience and ethics.” In a statement, he stated that he is distancing himself from the prosecution of Deniece’s r*pe case against Vhong Navarro.
He further emphasized that he had previously represented Deniece at the request of the family, particularly Rod Cornejo, a close friend. Certain people are now attempting to steer the case in a way that he does not want to go.
