When Asked About her own Farewell Speech for her Aunt Susan Roces, Sheryl Cruz Clarifies, “It Wasn’t to Spite Anyone”

Sheryl Cruz has finally spoken out about her late aunt Susan Roces, who passed away two months ago.

On May 25, 2022, Sheryl was not one of the family members who spoke at Susan’s funeral.

Instead, Sheryl made a video inside her home and shared it the same day on Instagram.

Susan’s niece is Sheryl. Rosemarie Sonora, the mother of Sheryl, is Susan’s sister.

On July 23, 2022, PEP talked to Sheryl via Zoom. Here, she reveals, for the first time, her reasoning behind writing her own farewell speech.

She stated: “To cut things short, there wasn’t really any kind of talks between the family regarding how the program’s going to be read out.

“So, para sa akin, before my aunt was laid to rest, I accustomed it upon myself because I know that it is also my right, and I know how close I was to her to tell the people the good things about her.

“And actually, basically, I just said what was in my heart and I just said everything that I said authentically.”

She don’t have any intentions to hurt anyone

“It wasn’t to hurt anyone or it wasn’t to spite anyone,” diin ni Sheryl.

“But it’s because I also needed to celebrate my aunt’s life. Kasi, kung hindi naman mabibigyan sa pagkakataon na ganun, knowing na meron naman nang Internet, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to do, especially kung wala ka namang sinabing masama.”

Sheryl was directly questioned by PEP.ph regarding the rumors that their argument continued up until Susan, the Queen of Philippine Movies, passed away.

The public is aware that Sheryl and Susan’s relationship suffered as a result of Sheryl’s vehement opposition to Senator Grace Poe’s presidential campaign in the 2016 elections.

The late Susan Poe and Fernando Poe Jr.’s adopted daughter is Senator Grace.

So, para sa akin, sarili nilang opinyon, they can keep it to themselves.”

Sheryl emphasized again, “Basta ang sa akin, if I say something, it is also my right. Lahat naman tayo, meron naman tayong karapatang magsalita, di ba? Hindi naman yun ibig sabihin nambabastos.”

Sheryl also insisted that Susan and she had previously spoken, and that it was not for other people to contest that.
