The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced that one man was k*lled as a result of the magnitude 7 earthquake that hit Abra and other parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Wednesday morning.

A construction worker was reported dead at La Trinidad, Benguet, as a result of falling debris, according to NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal.
The local government is “still being checked” the datas, according to Timbal.

At 8:43 a.m., there was an earthquake. Timbal stated that the impact did not affect the dams in the impacted areas and was tectonic in origin.

Timbal stated that in order to determine the extent of the damage, the NDRRMC is now working with its local counterparts in Region 1, Region 2, Cordillera Administrative Region 3, and Metro Manila.

According to him, “Assessment continues as of now but some areas have sustained damages to public and private structures.”

Timbal reassured the people that enough relief supplies have been placed in the impacted areas to support the local relief activities carried out by local government units.

Jose Faustino Jr., the defense officer in charge of the NDRRMC, is now coordinating with the impacted areas’ disaster officials from the council’s operations center, Timbal added.
