The government may provide up to P10,000 in monetary assistance to anyone affected by the magnitude 7.3 earthquake in Abra, according to DSWD Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez, who made the announcement on Thursday (July 28, 2022).

According to Lopez, the agency has so far given the earthquake victims in Abra and other parts of Northern Luzon an initial donation of P10 million.

It intends to assist people of our country whose homes and other properties have experienced significant damage.

“Ang sinisiguro ni [Social Welfare Secretary] Erwin Tulfo, naka-ready ‘yung ating mga pang-ayuda sa ating mga kababayan. At this point in time, naglabas na ng initial na P10 million ‘yung DSWD,” Lopez stated.

The financial support program is an AICS, or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, program, according to the DSWD official. Before providing monetary assistance, social welfare authorities will examine the victims.

“Yung ating mga kababayan na naging biktima ng sakunang ito, maaari po silang tumanggap ng P5,000 to P10,000 under ito ng Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation o AICS,” Lopez continued.
