The major guns and other batteries of the BRP Antonio Luna (FF151) were began testing as part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise.

The Philippine Army said in a statement to the media that the involvement of the Agusta Westland (AW) and 109 helicopters of the BRP Antonio Luna in the Integrated Anti-Submarine Warfare Exercise (CASEX) in Hawaii marked the end of the RIMPAC sea phase, which lasted from July 12 to July 16, 2022.

The BRP Antonio Luna also evaluated the accuracy of its main battery 76MM Super Rapid Gun, 30MM Smash Aselsan, and Caliber 50 Machine Gun during the Gunnery Exercise (GUNNEX), aiming at hammer-head targets installed by the Royal Canadian Navy Halifax-class frigate HMCS Winnipeg.

All whilst, the 76MM Super Rapid Gun was tested again during the Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) Rodeo exercise by targeting 2D virtual land information. Prior to the track opening fire, BRP Antonio Luna and many other respondents were provided a test run for gunshots adjustments.

Personnel on board a surface or air resource have been entrusted and instructed to recognize submarine maneuverability broached and sunk at periscope depth throughout this activity.

Lt. Philipp Concepcion Padreganda, pilot-in-command of Naval Task Group 80.5, is joined by co-pilots Lt. Elvan Anthony Marcelo and Lt. Junior Grade Kevin John Reforba.

Its AW 109 helicopter of the PN Naval Air Wing is one of over 170 aircraft currently involved in RIMPAC all around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California.

RIMPAC, the world’s largest international maritime exercise, offers a different training program while nurturing and maintaining collaborative partnerships among attendees, both of which are crucial to achieving the safety of sea lanes and the protection of the world’s oceans.

RIMPAC 2022 assists in assessing and validating the Philippine Navy’s ability to support overseas operations, as well as allocating assistance and surroundings in which international attendees can achieve their personal and group training goals.
