Imposter Syndrome: Definition, Symptoms, Traits, Causes, and Coping

Beauty revealed that, despite the fact that many people like and respect her as a warrior and an independent woman, she still feels uneasy.

The actress discussed her battle with mental health concerns on the internet show “Bare Your Beauty” and in an interview with GMA.

“Ang daming puwedeng triggers, it could be social media, minsan even our family, relatives and events. Minsan even positive comments like, when people start calling me beautiful, I actually think it’s not true and I actually feel insecure.

“It’s like psychological warfare, it’s really not easy, it’s an everyday thing you tackle. You are not aware that these feelings exist,” Beauty explained.

She also addressed “Imposter Syndrome,” which is defined as “perceived fraudulence that involves feelings of self-doubt and personal incompetence that persist despite your education, experience, and accomplishments.”

“Sometimes you feel you don’t belong where you are, you just got there because of pure luck. Lahat talaga umaatake sa ‘yo” Beauty says of her situation. “It’s not easy, indeed.”

“You have to constantly be aware of those feelings, acknowledge and accept that such feelings are happening, and that we also have the power to change those feelings into happy and positive ones,” she stated.

“What I do is spend more time with the people I love, the people that make me laugh hard,” the actress says of one of the things she does to prevent and overcome this healthy condition.

“Think about the things you’re grateful for. It’s also important to celebrate your achievements. If you feel like it’s parang insignificant, you should still celebrate all of your achievements even the smallest thing lang.

“Also, smile. I know it’s hard but try to smile, try to dance, try to play your favorite song, hug people that you love, and keep busy, keep moving.

“For me talaga, you listen and talk to yourself like you would talk to a child. You handle yourself with care and be gentle with yourself. Slowly, you would feel na nag-disappear na ‘yung insecurities mo,” diin pa niya.

“It changed my world talaga. For me kasi, self-love is infectious. Nakakahawa talaga. People will naturally be drawn to you because they will also feel the love towards you.

“You also get to be more productive kasi ang gaan ng feeling mo. And when you’re happy, the whole world changes on you. Iba na talaga yung paningin mo. You become more daring kapag masaya ka. If you just really believe in yourself, it will just glow,” she added.

Meanwhile, after her successful primetime series “I Can See You: AlterNate” with Dingdong Dantes, Beauty Gonzalez will star once more in the coming up Kapuso series “The Fake Life” on GMA Afternoon Prime.
