In Malaysia, 55 Filipinos were Infected with COVID-19

55 Filipinos in Malaysia were tested positive for the COVID-19. However, the Manila envoy Charles Jose said on Friday that the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia were monitoring their conditions.

Jose said, as of now, 9 of the fatalities have been discharged from the hospital while 46 are still undergoing treatment.

“Minomonitor po ng embassy ang kanilang status and safety on a daily basis,” he said during a virtual press briefing,

Charles Jose said that only 1 of the 55 Filipinos is not from the Philippines and the rest came only to Malaysia to attend a tabligh gathering or a Muslim convention.

According to the ambassador, the Philippine Embassy would help the Filipinos to return to the country after their treatment.

He said, “Siguro once matapos po ang treatment nila, tutulungan po namin sila para marepatriate po at makabalik ng Pilipinas,” he said.

Meanwhile, Malaysia has started a partial lockdown last week which follows in COVID-19 cases.

Recently, the Philippines is having 2,633 confirmed coronavirus cases and death toll of 63 with 472 total patients recovered.
