COVID-19 Cases in the Philippines Rose to 5,000; Deaths now at 335

The Philippines is struggling as the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) hits the country and still affecting the whole world.

Based on the report of the Department of Health (DOH), there are now 20 more fatalities of the coronavirus and 291 new infections, as of Tuesday. The Philippines has begun it’s widespread testing for the suspected cases of COVID-19.

The Philippines ‘ death toll has risen to 335 while the total number of infections nationwide leaped to 5,223.

However, as of the report, there are now more recoveries than deaths after a record-high. The 53 more patients have recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the total to 295.

According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, those who are vulnerable, severely ill, and healthcare workers will be prioritized under the risk-based and progressive mass testing

Meanwhile, the government has accepted the medical graduates to help aid in COVID-19 duration of a public health emergency to respond to the duration. 

So far, the country has 15 testing centers, 75 COVID-19 referral hospitals, and over 2,600 quarantine facilities, said Secretary Galvez Jr. and Vergeire.
