The City Government of Puerto Princesa Confirms the first case of COVID-19 in Palawan

A 23-year-old Australian National tourist in Palawan province has been positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019. In an interview with City Administrator Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, said the foreigner arrived in the Philippines on March 5, 2020.

March 12, when the foreigner felt bad, immediately diagnosed with Covid 19 symptoms. He was taken to the city of Puerto Princesa on March 13 and is in isolation at the Palawan Hospital. Pedrosa added that a swab sample was taken at the Australian national on March 14.

However, it was discovered on the 15th and 16th when he checked into a hotel in the city of Puerto Princesa, but he remained self-quarantine and ensured that despite his discharge from the hospital, the City Health Office was monitoring.

According to Pedrosa, his test results did not come out immediately, but only last night the authorities found that he was already positive for the virus.

Authorities have been conducting contact tracing or tracking down its acquaintances since its arrival in the city until it left the province. This is to ensure that no city and province residents in Covid 19 are infected from such carriers.

DOH recorded COVID-19 has infected 230 people in the Philippines, with 18 death and 8 recovered.

Latest Update Globally, as of March 21, 2020, a total of 266,175 have been infected and nearly 11,186 have died because of the viral disease that was first detected in Hubei, China. Over 90,603, have recovered from the deadly disease.
