Manila Council Requires Fast-food Chains to Hire Senior Citizens and PWD

It is common for us to let the elderly people rest at home. However, They can still able to work and earn money. Though it is tough to work for the people with disabilities to find a job because of their conditions and some employers are not sure of their capabilities.

In regard to this, the Manila council has passed a solution to this problem. They require the fast-food chains to hire senior citizens and PWD’s. According to the Inquirer, Ordinance No. 8598, they aim to “mandates fast-food chains in the city to provide temporary employment of not more than six months to senior citizens and PWDs as part of the city’s social amelioration program.”

Based on the report, every fast-food firm in Manila will hire at least two senior citizens and one person with a disability in each branch. They should be given a minimum wage salary and a minimum of four hours of work for at least four days per week. Manila Mayor, Mayor Isko Moreno has already expressed his aim at this matter.

He previously said in the interview of ABS-CBN that, “Give them a chance, an opportunity to earn hanggat kaya pa nila. Marami diyan gusto magtrabaho hindi para kumita pero para makapaglibang, meron ba silang magawa na makadadagdag sa productivity level nila”.
