Coronavirus disease that was first identified in Wuhan has received an official name from the World Health Organization: “COVID-19″.

The viral disease is now considered as Pandemic which means the disease epidemic has spread across a large region; for instance multiple continents, or worldwide.

There are now 52 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines and two deaths were recorded due to the disease.

The first case was confirmed on January 30. It was a 38-year-old Chinese woman and was confined in the San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

The second case was confirmed on February a 44-year-old Chinese man was confirmed dead due to the disease outside the mainland of China.

The first case was someone with no travel history abroad was confirmed on March 5, a 62-year-old male who frequented a Muslim prayer hall in San JuanMetro Manila that also has the possibility to increases the concerns transmission to other devotees who attended the same.

The man’s wife was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 on March 7 which is also the first confirmed local transmission. The largest increase in the number of confirmed cases was recorded on March 9, with authorities announcing an additional 14 confirmed cases.
