In the first place, we have to understand during the time of our crisis today relating to the issue of COVID-19 prompting the government to suspend public meetings including church worship is for our good not for our worse.
The government enemy is not about our worship, but it’s about coronavirus that threatens our life. The government do not go against you if you do worship in your home. As we also know that worship does not only limit to church assembly just like serving God is not only when we come to gather together during Sunday, because serving God is every day.
If our pastors or churches leaders suspended our Sunday worship, it does not mean that we commit sins and jeopardize our salvation. We are not separated from the love of God when our church suspended the gathering during Sunday service.
When the government orders to stop public gathering including church service for the reason of health issues, it does not mean we stop serving God and stop our worship.
The letter of Paul speaks of the danger of life as early Christian gatherings were illegal during their time. Wherever they come together to gather themselves for worship, it risks their lives. However, in our time today, the government only limit us of public gathering due to the high tendency of coronavirus infection but clearly do not prohibit us in worshiping our God. That is clear enough. So we cannot count we are guilty of suspending Sunday church service.
Obeying the government as what Romans 13:1 said is just like obeying God’s command. But in times the government prohibit our worship, that is a different issue.
