Iran’s one of the top political icon has been confirmed to have infected the potentially deadly virus spreading in the world, COVID-19.
Senior figure of Iran government, Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar is now placed under quarantine in her own house.
During the Cabinet meeting of Iran political officials, Ebtekar who used to sit close to President Hassan Rouhani, she was seen few seats away in order to avoid contact with other officials.
Reportedly, Iran first COVID-19 case in their country was recorded on February 19, 2020 in the Holy Iranian city of Qom. Health experts believes that the disease spread in their country was coming from China which has a very close economic relation to Tehran despite of the prohibition mandate by the United States.
Record shows, that there are now more than 245 people in Iran infected of the virus with 26 confirmed deaths cases which most of the victim were from Qom, a destination for Shiite pilgrims.
According to the government of Iran the fatality rate in their country reaches up to 20% based on the actual mortality cases. Meanwhile, based on the World Health Organization, the fatality rate is only up to 2%.
