11-Month Old Baby Cured of Novel Coronavirus in China and the Family of Three Members

Good news amid coronavirus outbreak, a family of three members that was infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus, including an 11-month-old baby are now declared cured and discharged from a hospital in Zhongshan, a Pearl River delta city in South China’s Guangdong province, on Tuesday.

This is the reason why doctors from Beijing’s China-Japan Friendship Hospital were overwhelmed for happiness and cheer each other before entering quarantine units for severe patients at Tongji Hospital affiliated with Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei province in China.

The member of the family infected with the 2019-nCoV includes a father surname Wen, 36, his wife surnamed Feng, 42, and their 11-month baby.

According to Gao Wenjun, Deputy Director of Zhongshan No. 2 People’s Hospital told reporter on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, the three family members cured were the first novel coronavirus patients to be discharged from hospital in the city,

Gao narrated that the family had visited Wuhan, the center of the novel coronavirus epidemic, from Jan 10 to 12 and they returned to Zhongshan on Jan 21.

Health authorities detected that the three members of the family developed a fever and cough on Jan 23, and they were quickly confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus after being hospitalized.

Based on health authorities record, the 11-month-old baby is the youngest novel coronavirus patient in the city,” Gao said at a press conference.

Report said that in Zhongshan of Guangdong province where a large number of migrant workers came a total of 31 confirmed novel coronavirus cases based on latest update on Monday at midnight including one serious case.

The patients are aged from 11 months to 79 years old.

Another report of twenty novel conronavirus patients were discharged from Jinyintan Hospital in Wuhan on Friday. According to report from chinadaily.com.cn this is the highest number of recovered patients at one time.
