Government Plan for Filipinos in China Who Want to Go Back Home Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

The Philippine government would like to inform the public specially to the Filipino people who have relatives or love ones in China who intend to go back home amid coronavirus outbreak.

It cannot be avoided for a Filipino to worry about the deadly coronavirus as it spreads so fast anywhere in the world. The safety of the people depends on how the government protect and control the incoming possible threats can be brought by the nCoV to enter the country through infected individual from other countries with confirmed coronavirus cases.

In connection to this, the government expressed willingness to assist every Filipinos in China who want to go back home knowing that there are several Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in China plus of those Filipinos who traveled for vacation. China government is controlling the incoming and outgoing of the people in their country specially to those people residing in Wuhan City in which the government issued mandatory lock-down until now. Filipinos in China cannot easily leave the country to go back home in the Philippines.

Reportedly, there are more than thirty (30) Filipinos who are now in China and intend to go back home in the Philippines amid nCoV outbreak.

According to Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque, the Philippine government is extending assistance to our fellow citizens in China who want to go back home but he said they will travel by air and once they arrive in the country they will stay to the government provided health facility for monitoring until they are clear for the possible infection.

Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Brigido Dulay also expressed assurance that OFWs can go home with the proper coordination of the Chinese authorities.

As of this writing, our team learns that there is still no deportation of Filipinos from China who wanted to go back in the Philippines.
