7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts near Moluccas, Indonesia

A 7.4 earthquake has struck 138km kilometres northwest of Kota Ternate in Indonesia’s Molucca islands. The quake hits start at 11:17 pm local time and measure at 45 km deep.

The followed aftershocks are 4.8 to 5.8 magnitude in the same area. There are NO immediate reports of damage in Ternate, the largest city in the area, according to Metro TV news broadcaster.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat in the Pacific.

Recently, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology announces a No Tsunami threat in the Philippines following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake recorded off Moluccas, Indonesia, Friday at 12:18 a.m.
