Amazing performer of the reality singing competition on “The X Factor” Australia, the 15-year-old Filipina contestant Marlisa Punzalan has made her way to advance to the grand finals of the music talent search.
Punzalan, the youngest among all the contestant is joining along with two other contestants, Brothers3 and Dean Ray in the grand finals. Results was officially announced on Monday, October 13, 2014 for the three finalist in the grand finals vying the much-coveted title for the last time on October 19, 2014.
During the “Live Show 10” it was a tension-filled night for Punzalan and Reigan Derry because they were the two contestants earned the lowest number of votes after all their performance show last Sunday.
On their final showdown, Punzalan sang The Beatles’ “Help,” while Derry performed Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” It was on their last performance the judges based their best pick who they thought more deserving to advance to the grand finals.
It so happened that the two had a tie votes from the judges. Punzalan, was able to impress the two judges with her renditions of Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” and James Arthur’s “Impossible,” last Sunday performance, with that, her mentor Ronan Keating and Dannii Minogue gave Punzalan their votes. On the other hand, Derry also got two votes from her mentor Redfoo and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.
Because of the “deadlock” result for the two contestants, the other option of choosing the contestant to secure the grand finals slot was instead based on the public votes. The overall result revealed that Derry received the lowest number of votes, losing her chance to the grand finals showdown.
The management announces that before the grand final showdown next Sunday night, October 19, 20014, all the three contestants will stage a concert in their respective hometowns on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Ray will perform in Meandarra, Brothers3 will perform in Mudgee while Punzalan will have a homecoming in Mr. Druitt.
