Michael Christian Martinez the only Filipino representative to compete for skating in Sochi Winter Olympic 2014. In a video interview, he discloses that the Philippine government did not give him support to the said Winter Olympian competition.

Michael Christian Martinez Sochi OlympicsIn an exclusive interview with “Kabayan Today” hosted by Janelle So on October 2013, the 17-year-old said that he was supposed to expect from the Philippine government to support him in the competition because he is bringing the banner of the Philippines every time he is representing himself in the competition.

The video footage below shows the entire coverage of the exclusive interview with Michael Christian Martinez. The video interview was uploaded in YouTube last November 2013, but only this week the video goes viral on the internet flooded with thousands of comments and marks 40-thousands plus views on YouTube alone.

Matinez also revealed that the private institution supporting him in the competition is no less than but the SM Malls, the owner of the two giant skating arenas in the country.

In an earlier report, the mother of Michael Christian Martinez, Teresa, confirmed that the Philippine government did not give support to his son, instead she mortgage their house to support her son Michael’s training and trip to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Michael Christian Martinez is the first Filipino skaters to compete the Winter Olympian after 22-long-year without participation in the Olympic competition.

Michael Christian Martinez hopes to make the most of his “record-breaking” stint during the Winter Olympics to show up to the world and to give honor to the country.

Michael Christian Martinez will perform in the short program starting at 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM (PST) on Friday, February 14, at the Iceberg Skating Palace, seeking to make the Top 24 Spot in the competition.
