Catholics Believe Pope Francis Job Performance But Split on Doctrines -Online Poll

In international survey results Catholics believe Pope Francis that he is doing well in his job, but many shows disagree with Catholic Church doctrinal issues, especially contraceptives, according to a global poll results on Sunday.

Pope FrancisThe US-based Spanish-language network “Univision of Catholics” in 12 countries found out that those most likely indicated support to the Church doctrines are married men and women whose ages are 55 years above with a good record of mass attendance and live in rural areas.

The rest of Catholics opinion varies by region, geographic location, age and income on the particular issues such as “gay marriage, abortion, divorce and female priests.”

According to the poll, results have indicated that there are 87% of Catholics believe that Pope Francis is doing a good job or rated as outstanding job performance as his papacy reaches its first anniversary next month on March, while 78% favors using contraceptives which is a violation of Church teaching.

On the regional differences issue, the result shows of 80% Catholics in Africa and 76% in the Philippines support the ban on female priests, but 30% only in Europe and 36% in the United States are in favor.

The most controversial issue is the “gay marriage,” and according to the poll, the result shows overwhelming oppositions that indicates 99% in Africa, 84% in Philippines, 57% in Latin America and 56% in Europe.

According to the pollsters, the average percentage shows 5% women, 18% young people and 10% upper and upper middle class members are in favor of gay marriage compared to their counterparts.

Catholics in Spain and France are among the most liberal in the world although this country has enforced Church doctrine through the Holy Inquisition.

Catholics in Africa and Philippines are the remaining conservative practice of Catholic beliefs while those in Argentina and Brazil were also liberal.

The poll by Bendixen & Amandi International for Univision surveyed 12,036 Catholics in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, Poland, Spain, Uganda and the United States.

The countries represent 61 percent of the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, and pollsters say the survey has a 0.9 percent overall margin of wrong doctrines.
