Filipino rapper Aristotle Polistico, known by his stage name “Gloc-9” and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano received the top honors at this year’s Awit Awards. The list of all the winners was released by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) on Wednesday, December 11, 2013.
PARI has given the highest honor to Gloc-9’s entry “Mga Kwento Ng Makata” (MKNM) as the Album of the Year, and the hit single he wrote “Sirena” awarded as the Song of the Year.
While Gary V received the award as “Best Performance” by a “Male Recording Artist” and “Best Ballad Recording,” both for his spectacular rendition of the popular TV theme song “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan.”
Among other top awardees mentioned in the list includes: Aiza Seguerra who won the title as “Best Performance” by Female Recording Artist. For the title “Best Inspirational Recording” is awarded to the composers Jonathan Manalo and Arnel de Pano with the song “Lipad ng Pangarap” that performed by Angeline Quinto and Regine Velsasquez.
PARI has scheduled the 2013 Awit Awards show on Wednesday, but because of the recent catastrophes befallen in most areas of Central Visayas it was canceled. It instead held a presentation of winners on the same day.
The annual presentation of Awit Awards is envisioned in order to recognize the Filipino performing artists in music industry and to honor the people behind the making of Filipino recorded music.
