Earthquake hits Negros island at around 01:01:00 AM on June 22, 2020.

The netizen in the world of social media were exchanging messages to know the origin of the earthquake. There are so many inquiries in Facebook to find the exact location as Bacolodnon people were disturbed from their sleeping while earthquake shaking was felt in the area.

According to the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS), the epicenter of the magnitude 4.6 was recorded at 10.40°N, 123.04°E – 012 km S 79° E recorded in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.

DOST-PHIVOLCS identifies the tectonic origin of the earthquake.

DOST-PHIVOLCS information table also recorded instrumental intensities that was felt in the areas of the following:

Kanlaon City – Intensity V
Bago City, Negros Occidental – Intensity III
Sipalay City, Negros Occidental – Intensity II
Iloilo City, Iloilo – Intensity I

DOST-PHIVOLCS said that there are no damages reported due to the incident and no aftershocks expected.
