The renewal of ABS-CBN franchise is the most controversial issue since the month of February as the date of expiration of franchise on March 30, 2020 is past approaching.

There are lot of affected parties relating to the issue that make most of the iconic celebrities and prominent politicians taking into account, knowing that if the giant network in the country will not be granted renewal of franchise, thousands of the laborers ABS-CBN will be affected.

Recently, Direk Lauren took to his Twitter account to express sentiment regarding the threat of President Duterte’s block of ABS-CBN renewal of franchise after expiration on March 30, saying, “Kailangan na namin magsalita,” he said.

On his post on Twitter dated February 11, 2020, he captioned “OPISYAL NA PAHAYAG, WALANG UTANG NA TAX ANG ABS-CBN, Tapat ang ABS-CBN sa pagbabayad ng buwis sa gobyerno. Sa katunayan, binigyan ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ang ABS-CBN ng Tax Clearance Certificate noong 2019, isang katibayan ng wala itong pagkukulang sa BIR,” Twitter post.
