The released of the P31.5 million has been officially declared by the Davao City’s Sangguninang Panglungsod (city council). It has been stated it will purchase at least 15,000 sacks of rice to be given to the farmers of the North Catobato suffering so much famine. The cause of the El Nino and the long dry spell that the province has been experiencing.

The North Catobato having the estimated counts of 5,000 farmers took the street and rallied to show to the local governments how they are needing for food assistance. However, they were despised. Over 100 persons are wounded including policemen.

In accordane to the distribution of the Davao to the North Cotabato, city councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chair of Finance Ways and Means Committee, said, “The distribution will be channeled through the Red Cross and the local DSWD. It will be distributed per municipality then to the barangay level, it will cover all the areas hit by El Niño not just for the protesting farmers,”
