In Catbalogan, Samar two soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are reported as injured after the members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New Peoples’ Army (CPP-NPA) being the suspect had attacked surprisingly the convoy Army truck transporting troops from the 546th Engineering Battalion and the 8th Infantry Division Reconnaissance Company of the Philippine Army (PA).

The convoy was said to have four trucks, two army trucks, elf truck and a mini-dump truck. It carries soldiers and relief goods to be given to the Northern Samar people who had been affected by Typhoon Nona.

It was also reported that there were almost 32 soldiers with the two Department of Social welfare and Development (DSWD) when the ambush happened.

The two injured soldiers were identified as Private First Class Rowell Talahota who was the driver of one of the trucks, and Private First Class Circado Cado. The two soldiers were not seriously wounded but were nevertheless brought to a hospital located in Tacloban City.
