MANILA — Carmelle Collado, a former housemate on “Pinoy Big Brother,” has released her debut original single, “Morena.”
The latest track, which is currently available on digital streaming services, was promoted on Instagram by Collado and ABS-CBN’s record company Star Music. The official lyric video for the song has been posted on Star Music’s YouTube channel.
“Morena” carries a pop-influenced sound with soulful undertones, blending modern production with lyrics that emphasize pride in one’s complexion and individuality. In the song, Carmelle encourages listeners to embrace their natural features rather than conform to societal beauty standards.
Carmelle first gained public attention as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother, where she was known for her candid personality and emotional authenticity. Since leaving the show, she has been gradually building her career in entertainment, exploring both hosting and music.
Industry observers note that “Morena” is a strong debut, signaling her intention to pursue music more seriously in the coming months.
Following the song’s release, fans of the PBB alum took to social media to express support, praising both the message and Carmelle’s vocal performance. Many highlighted how the track resonates with young Filipinas navigating self-image and confidence.
With her debut single now out, Carmelle Collado is expected to continue releasing more music and possibly collaborate with other artists in the local industry. She hinted that “Morena” is only the beginning of her musical journey.
“Morena” comes after Carol Banawa’s ballad “Stay,” which Collado revived in March of last year.
Following “Morena,” she will perform for the first time on May 17 at SM North EDSA Skydome.
In 2019, Collado participated in “The Voice Kids,” placing first runner-up under Coach Bamboo’s Kamp Kawayan.
Later, Collado participated in the “school showdown” version of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” the singing competition portion of the variety show “It’s Showtime.” In January 2025, Collado emerged victorious.
Collado was chosen to be a housemate on “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” at the end of the previous year.
