Biñan City Police arrested six (6) suspects allegedly involved in the fraternity hazing that led to the death of 24-year-old Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig.
In an interview with GMA News to Roi Dela Cruz, ““Ang sabi sa akin is since we have anti-hazing law ngayon sa batas natin, ang ibibigay na lang, like 12 to 24. Marami na ‘yung 24. So naniwala ako, plus the benefits na pwede kong matanggap. So pinursue ko kasi I also want to help my parents kasi may financial struggle din kami (They told me we have an anti-hazing law and they will only give 12 to 24 paddles, Twenty-four will be plenty. I believed them, plus the benefits that I can receive. I pursued it because I also wanted to help my parents as we have financial struggles).”
Aside from paddling him more than 70 times, Dela Cruz added that the victim also received a burning candle wax on his body.
