The former Comelec commissioner and current P3PWD Party List representative described why she went into “beast mode” in a popular video.

The fiery congresswoman made news earlier this year after a video surfaced of her threatening several Dinagsa Festival participants in Cadiz City. Rowena Guanzon’s “pagwawala” was recorded on camera, shared on social media, and quickly went viral.

A day after the altercation, Rowena Guanzon posted on Facebook that she intends to press charges against the offenders. She reported that two of them were already imprisoned.

“Nasa jail na ang dalawa. And we are filing cases against them. Grabe ginawa nila,” she said. “Isa siguro yan sa dapat tutukan sa mga fiesta,”

she continued.

She said in an interview with Digicast Negros, a local news source, that the viral video did not portray the entire scenario. She is also attempting to launch a lawsuit against the video’s uploader. Cyn Thia, the uploader of Guanzon’s video, also voiced their opinion on the topic. Following the encounter, the latter is concerned about their safety.

Meanwhile, Rowena Guanzon served as Comelec commissioner under former President Benigno Aquino III and President Rodrigo Duterte from 2015 to 2022. She was also Mayor of Cadiz City, Negros Occidentales, and a Commissioner of the Commission on Audit (COA). She also worked as the head of staff to the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, whom she regards as a role model.
