Kim Chiu shared her perspective on rediscovering love in 2024, stating, “Because love means a lot of things, and I am open to receiving it. It’s part of life, let’s all embrace it.”
Despite facing setbacks and disappointments in past relationships, Kim Chiu maintains a positive outlook on love. She revealed that she is not closing the door to loving again and entering into new relationships.
The 33-year-old Kapamilya actress stated, “Certainly. Maybe not right now, but maybe in the next months to come, years. Because love, there are many sources of it, and I am willing to receive. It’s part of life, let’s all embrace it. Never stop loving because love comes in all forms—friendship, love with your work, everything. Just never stop loving.”
Her twelve-year relationship with Xian Lim ended in a breakup before the conclusion of 2023. Xian was her second boyfriend. Her first boyfriend, Gerald Anderson, was in a relationship with her for four years, ending in a breakup in the mid-2010s.
She claimed to have no regrets when it comes to relationships, even if she has been hurt in the process. When asked if she has ever been deceived in love, Kim responded, “We’ve all been fooled in love because when you love, you expose yourself. Of course, you’ll really get entangled in the world of deception because that’s part of life, that’s part of growth. Embrace the pain and learn something from that experience, and you’re good to go. I have no regrets about any experience in love or life. That’s part of life, and I’m thankful.”
Kim made these remarks during the press conference for Linlang, held at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN on January 15, 2024. On the other hand, Kim is romantically linked to Linlang leading man Paulo Avelino, as their closeness allegedly developed while working together in the series. Both Paulo and Kim remained tight-lipped about the issue, and they were not directly questioned about it during the press conference.
The airing of Linlang began on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5 on January 22, but it had previously premiered and concluded on Prime Video in the latter part of 2024. The series gained significant popularity due to its intense storyline and the daring roles played by Kim, Paulo Avelino, JM de Guzman, and Kaila Estrada.
The narrative revolves around Juliana (Kim), entangled in a complex relationship with the siblings Victor (Paulo) and Alex (JM). Kim initially hesitated to accept the role of Juliana in Linlang, considering it a lengthy and challenging process.
“It was a long process, a long decision-making because I was really scared of a role like this. I never imagined doing something this mature, offbeat, and far from myself. But it reached the decision that when will I ever get to do this kind of role, this kind of story with a stellar cast that I’m only working with now. I’ve only worked with JM before, and now I’m working with all of them. And Dreamscape, I know they’ll take care of me; I have high trust in them. I think it’s part of my career growth as an actor.”
Kim excellently portrayed her role as Juliana. Would she be willing to take on daring roles in her future projects? She responded, “Why not? As actors, whatever role allows us to grow, surprises people, I am willing to do. Where you feel less comfortable, that’s where you grow. I think I’ve covered the entire rom-com scene, if there’s any, why not? Daring? It depends on how daring it is first.”
Kim’s lined-up project for 2024 is the Kapamilya Channel remake of the popular Korean rom-com series, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” where she will once again be paired with Paulo.
