“Myra,” a 31-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), burst into tears when her flight to Doha, Qatar, to go back to her work was canceled.

Myra is scheduled to depart from Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

However, her husband, Jonard Banate, 34, was waiting for her at the airport.

Jonard threw Myra’s phone away when they met.

Myra’s passport and plane ticket were also taken, and, to make matters worse, he teared up.

When the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group heard Myra’s requests, they quickly responded.

Jonard was taken into custody. Myra, however, was unable to leave the Philippines due to destroyed travel documents.

The OFW details meeting her husband at the airport: “Hinihila niya ako, dadalhin daw niya ako doon sa Batangas. Ang sabi ko, ‘Hindi puwede.’

“Nagpalag ako. E, hinila niya ako. E, bigla na lang niya kinuha ang cellphone ko, tapos binato niya,” she added.
