House Speaker Martin Romualdez, ACT-CIS Partylist representative Erwin Tulfo, and Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Chief Alvin Enciso conducted a surprise inspection at the rice mill and warehouse in the town of Bocaue, Bulacan this Thursday.
Romualdez emphasized it must be taken down from the market because otherwise it will be considered hoarding.
“Artificial o Sadya ang Pagtaas ng presyo ng Bigas sa Merkado dahil nakatago sa Bodega ang mga bigas kaya nagmamahal,” said by speaker Romualdez.
He said traders are doing this because they are squeezing the fund and simultaneously increasing the price in the world market.
”Ilabas na nila ang kanilang mga stock at wag ng antayin ang Pangulo pa ang mag-utos sa kanila,” he added.
Speaker Martin Romualdez discovered during their rounds in the rice warehouses that there was rice that had been stored for three months.
“May 202, 000 sako ng bigas na nagkakahalaga ng P500 Million ang nakatago sa tatlong bodega pa lang na sinilip ng mambabatas sa Bulacan kanina.”
