Sandiganbayan Rejects The Marcos’ Request To Recover Lost Properties

Gail

Just in: The Marcos family’s bid to recover assets that the Sandiganbayan (SB) had previously declared illegally obtained was shot down in a resolution issued on Thursday.

The SB reports that the defendants asked for their lost properties and assets to be returned to them after the government found them, claiming that the government had been careless with them while under the administration of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).

The SB further stated that the Marcos estate based its move on the alleged “illegality” of the transfers of these lands and assets to the PCGG by compromise agreements and the lack of authority of the PCGG in entering into such contracts.

“The Court is not persuaded,” the SB concluded.

The PCGG, founded under former President Cory Aquino to reclaim Marcos Sr.’s ill-gotten wealth, supported the court’s claim that these properties and assets were illegally obtained.

Netizens were convinced that this was only the current president Bong Bong Marcos’ intention the whole time. They said it was why he joined the presidential election, as he said so himself.
