A Palawan councilor recalled Gina Lopez, the late and former secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), lecturing.
Puerto Princesa Councilor Elgin Robert L. Damasco remembered Lopez’s statement on respecting Mother Nature when their town flooded during the current downpour. Damasco thinks Lopez was correct in her advocacy for the environment.
He continued in his post, “Mga kababayan natin sa Brooke’s Point at karatig Bayan.
Lopez was a Filipino philanthropist and environmentalist. Lopez shut down a lot of mining operations during her time because, in her opinion, they were badly damaging the environment.
Rodrigo Duterte, a former president, chose Lopez because of her history and advocacy for environmental and natural resource protection.
