On Wednesday, actress and TV host Alex Gonzaga apologized for her behavior at her recent birthday party.

“On my birthday, God taught me a difficult and life-changing lesson.” Humility, kindness, and better judgment are all virtues. “I am truly sorry, Kuya Allan.” Gonzaga tweeted, referring to the waiter she smeared icing on in a viral video.

The now-deleted video posted by content creator Dani Barretto showed Gonzaga, 35, blowing out her birthday candle before smearing chocolate icing on the server holding the cake. In the background, guests can be heard cheering.

The scene drew criticism from netizens and even celebrities, who demanded better treatment for the country’s service workers.

The actress also expressed regret for causing her family “pain and embarrassment.”

“I will rise from this a wiser and better person,” she posted on Twitter.
