According to the Department of Education, Christmas parties in public schools are only optional, and solicitations for celebrations are prohibited.

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte signed DepEd Order (DO) No. 52, which stated that no student should be excluded from school holiday celebrations.

Christmas costumes, decorations, and exchange gifts, according to Duterte, are now mandatory but optional. Under no circumstances may students or staff contribute to, participate in, or use funds for these events. They may, however, make any kind of voluntary contribution, including monetary contributions.

The Department of Education also advised schools to recycle their existing Christmas decorations rather than buy new ones. Furthermore, it should not be necessary for staff and students to create decorations, particularly for these events.

School Christmas parties are permitted as long as they do not conflict with scheduled lessons for the students and do not jeopardize the delivery of departmental services.

According to the Department of Education, private schools, community learning centers, state and local universities, and colleges may choose to use the DO’s provisions as a guide when organizing their own Christmas parties or other events.
