Vina Morales turned to social media to reflect on her role in the debut episode of ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK),” which will conclude after 31 years.
Morales appeared in the debut episode of MMK, “Rubber Shoes,” which aired on May 15, 1991, with Romnick Sarmenta and Robert Arevalo.
“Humbled and thankful that me and Romnick was the 1st episode of @mmkofficial ‘Rubber Shoes.’ Happy 31st year Mam @charosantos. Grateful to be a part of your show. You all made us laugh and cry with your beautiful stories over the years. Salamat po,” she said on Instagram.
“MMK” will cease in December, marking the end of an era in Philippine television, according to its anchor Charo Santos-Concio, who broke the news last Monday.
Santos-Concio, the screen legend and ABS-CBN executive who has been reading the letters that inspire “MMK’s” episodes since 1991, bid farewell in a statement of thanks to all who have been a part of the series over the years.
In the run-up to its December 10 finale, “MMK” will commemorate its 31st anniversary with a three-part episode beginning November 26.
In her thank-you speech, Santos-Concio did not rule out the prospect of rejoining with her fans in another role when “MMK” ends.
“Salamat po sa lahat ng nakaraan at sa anumang paraan na maaaaring pa tayong muling magkita,” she stated. “Ito po si Charo Santos, ang inyong tagahanga at tagapag-kuwento.”
