JUST IN: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who met with President Bong Bong Marcos, Tested Positive for COVID-19

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19. He had a meeting with Pres. Last week, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and other regional and global leaders met in Phnom Penh for the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday that he is “honored” to have met ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners during his “very successful” trip to Cambodia for the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits in Phnom Penh.

“I was honored to meet them and I thanked them for their efforts and contribution to our nation’s progress and development, as well as that of Cambodia’s,” He said this during his welcome speech at the Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

During his four-day visit to Cambodia, the president said he was able to “articulate our national interests.”

“Tayo, sa Pilipinas, we also had the opportunity to present our position, our plans, and to find ways to help each other,” Marcos said.

During the summits, Marcos stated that Asean member states had “a very large area of consensus.”

“Pare-pareho kasi, food supply, presyo ng fertilizer, presyo ng langis, yun ang inaalala. Supply side problems, parehong-pareho sa atin… Nagkakaunawaan lahat ng member states. Hindi kaya nang mag-isa, kailangan sama-sama,” he stated.

“In all these meetings, we articulated our national interests and our commitment to working with ASEAN and our Dialogue Partners to find common ground to address the issues affecting our region and to strengthen cooperation,” he continued.

The President also mentioned his bilateral discussions with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, whom he congratulated on Cambodia’s successful ASEAN chairmanship this year.

He also stated that he met with leaders from Brunei, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and Canada in bilateral meetings.

“We discussed how we can deepen cooperation in key areas and exchanged views on important regional and global issues,” Marcos said.

The President also expressed gratitude to the Cambodian government for its warm hospitality to the Philippine delegation.
