Some of the Local Government Units announces class suspensions on Thursday, October 27, 2022, due to Bagyong Paeng. The Low-pressure area east of eastern Visayas developed into Tropical Depression “PAENG.”

The center of Tropical Depression “PAENG” was estimated based on all available data at 965 km East of Eastern Visayas (12.4°N, 133.5°E). Maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and a central pressure of 1004 hPa.

PAENG developed into a tropical depression at 8:00 AM today. It is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm tomorrow. Further intensification is likely while moving over the Philippine Sea and may reach the typhoon category on Saturday.

Based on the latest forecast scenario, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal may be hoisted for some areas in Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region tomorrow morning at the earliest. Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force winds over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte in the next 24 hours.
