The Liansing family is heartbroken over Patrolman Val Liansing’s death when he accidently shot himself while cleaning his gun. The Liansing family from the Home for the Blind in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, is the only one with physical impairments or people with disabilities (PWDs), with five of their seven members blind.

Val and his brother are inextricably linked to their family. His mother is partially blind, while his second father, elder brother, and two younger siblings are all blind. His life was difficult since he struggled to attend school due to his parents’ poor wage as massage therapists.

Val worked tirelessly to support his family and his education. Val kept ten quail birds and sold each egg for P2 to supplement her income. Val’s thankfulness was realized when he became a scholar in the 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), and as a result, he graduated from college in 2019 with a BS in Agriculture course.

Val sought for work after graduating from high school, and because he aspired to be a police officer, he took the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) exam. Val passed in 2021 and went through many months of training before becoming a patrolman.

His family will also be noted for winning the ‘National Search for 2022 Life Story of the Pantawid Family’ in the Mata sang Batang 4Ps category on September 28, 2022.

Val di*d on October 30, 2022, after accidently shooting himself while cleaning his gun at his residence in Purok Punay, Barangay Mansilingan. Peace be with you. Val Liansing is a patrolman.
