Imelda Marcos and her daughters, Sen. Imee Marcos and Irene Marcos-Araneta, bypassed final hearing in their ill-gotten wealth case before the Sandiganbayan. The Marcoses and another defendant, Don Ferry, failed to present evidence in the final hearing of Civil Case No. 0014 at the Sandiganbayan Second Division because they were not represented by lawyers. As a result, the prosecution requested that the court announced that they had cleared their right to present proof.

Second Division Chairperson Oscar Herrera given the motion, noting that the defendants had been served with hearing notices.

As a final move, Herrera directed the lawyers of the defendants present, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., to submit constructed memoranda.

“This case has been pending since 1987, so the period to file memoranda is non-extendible for 30 days from today,” Herrera explained. ” After that, it will be semi-considered and submitted for decision.”

The recovery of alleged ill-gotten wealth amassed by the Marcoses, led by former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., through the inappropriate use of government funds or properties. Modesto Enriquez, Trinidad Diaz Enriquez, Rebecco Panlilio, Erlinda Enriquez-Panlilio, Leandro Enriquez, Roman Cruz, Jr., and Gregorio Castillo are among the other defendants.

According to the original complaint filed in 1987 by the Office of the Solicitor General and the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG), the Enriquezes and Panlilios obtained illegally stock shares in 23 corporations, mostly hotels, during the Marcos regime. The PCGG estimated the subject properties in Civil Case No. 0014 to be worth P581 million in 2009. Marcos Jr. was represented in the case, but no evidence was presented. His lawyer, Manuel Plaza, had previously accepted the available evidence by the other accused persons.
