Second Warrant of Arrest against Vhong Navarro with No Bail Released

Television host Vhong Navarro faces his second warrant of arrest, this time for the rape case also filed by model-stylist Deniece Cornejo. In an order dated Sept. 19, the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 69 ordered authorities to arrest Navarro. The court also did not recommend bail.

Presiding Judge Loralei Cruz Datahan did not recommend bail for Navarro. Earlier, Navarro surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation and posted bail of P36,000, for the charge of acts of lasciviousness lodged against him by model Deniece Cornejo.

Lawyer Alma Mallonga, legal counsel of Vhong Navarro, maintains that the actor is innocent of the charges of r*pe and acts of lasciviousness brought against him in 2014 by model Deniece Cornejo.

The CA ordered the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office “to file the Information against Ferdinand ‘Vhong’ H. Navarro for: (1) Rape by S*xual Intercourse under Article 266-A (1) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353; and (2) Acts of Lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code

“it was erroneous for the DOJ [Department of Justice] to deny Cornejo’s petition for review on the ground that her statements in the complaint-affidavits are inconsistent and incredible,” the CA ruled.
