Jessy Mendiola revealed that she contracted COVID-19 while five months pregnant with her child with TV host Luis Manzano and has since recovered.
Yesterday, Sept. 15, the actress documented her experience while in self-isolation at home on her YouTube vlog. Mendiola’s symptoms included a mild sore throat, colds, headaches, fever, and a dry cough.
“Magti-three years na ‘yung [COVID-19], ngayon lang ako nag-positive. Actually, naiyak ako kay How How (Manzano) nu’ng nalaman kong positive ako kasi siyempre si Peanut talaga ‘yung iniisip ko,” She confessed, referring to her child.
Mendiola then emphasized the importance of COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, stating that the shots made her symptoms less severe.
“Ang laki na naitulong sa’kin ng vaccine. Naka-four shots na ako ng vaccine before pa ako mabuntis,” she stated.
Fortunately, Manzano was not infected with COVID-19 because Mendiola asked him to leave the room as soon as she tested positive on an antigen test.
After 11 days in isolation, the actress tested negative for COVID-19.
Mendiola then expressed gratitude to other pregnant women and mothers who were concerned about her baby’s health, as seen in the comments section of her Instagram post from yesterday.
“Maraming salamat (Thank you very much). Your words of encouragement means a lot to me,” she stated.
“I’m glad to know na hindi lang ako ang sobrang naapektuhan sa kakaalala kung ok lang ba si baby Peanut”
Mendiola and Manzano, who have been married for a year, announced last August that they were expecting their first child. They announced on August 25th that they were expecting a girl.
