Former Vice President Leni Robredo lauded FAMAS 2022 Best Film “Katips” and the whole production team behind its development.

The Philippine Stagers Foundation, who presented the original play on which the movie is based, released a video of Robredo congratulating the “Katips” team on a fantastic production on their official Facebook page.

“Mahalaga ang mensahe na dala ng inyong pelikula, lalo na sa panahon na pilit na binabago at nililihis ang kasaysayan, at marami sa ating kababayan ay napapaniwala sa mga kasinungalingan,” Robredo added. Wearing a pink shirt, the hue that has become synonymous with her since her 2022 presidential race and now that she oversees the Angat Buhay charity, Robredo noted that “Katips” was more confirmation that “art is integral in the way we shape the world.”

Vince Taada, a fellow legal advisor who directed, wrote, and performed in “Katips,” and fellow actor Johnrey Rivas both reposted the messages on their own Facebook profiles, encouraging people to attend their film.

Despite being launched in theaters to compete with the controversial “Maid in Malacañang,” “Katips” has stayed competitive for a second straight week, and according to various rumors, “Katips” will soon be distributed in Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

The movie won The best Film, Best Supporting Actor for Rivas, Best Director, Actor, and Original Song for Taada (the latter shared with Pipo Cifra), Best Cinematography, and Best Musical Score at the 2022 FAMAS Awards.
