Sen. Risa Hontiveros attracted a lot of netizens’ interest during President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday.

When the President was announced, she didn’t clap.

She can be seen in videos that some internet users have recorded at the House of Representatives session hall declining to clap when the President is presented before he begins speaking.

In a post-Sona conversation with media, Hontiveros stated that she agreed with several of Marcos’ proposals, including those regarding the use of renewable energy sources and social protection for vulnerable groups like single parent families.

She did, however, express anticipation that corruption would be addressed.

Risa stated, “Sana may anti-corruption measures at saka yung concern para sa mga iba pang issue tungkol sa governance at saka demokrasya.”

Here are some of the responses from online users in the the meantime:

One internet user wrote, “SEN. @risahontiveros NOT GIVING HIM A ROUND OF APPLAUSE! I LOVE YOU PO SO MUCH! STAND STRAIGHT & SLAY 🫡🫡🫡#SONA.”
